Position Purpose:
Food and food service delivery drivers play a pivotal role in the nation’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure that customer orders arrive at their destinations on time and in excellent condition, serving as the face of our company and fostering enduring relationships with our clients.

The driver will be responsible for operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck on various local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttling, and overnight delivery routes to safely and promptly deliver and/or unload food and food-related products in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:
– Professionally communicate and engage with customers, vendors, and coworkers, ensuring accurate and timely responses to inquiries.
– Collaborate as a team member within the department and organization and perform all duties assigned to best serve the company.
– Conduct all mandatory safety checks (e.g., pre/post trip inspections) of the tractor/truck and trailer as per DOT regulations; verify that equipment meets company safety standards and take necessary actions as needed.
– Report any safety concerns or required repairs.
– Comply with all DOT regulations and adhere to company safe driving policies and guidelines.
– Promptly report safety hazards and ensure freight is securely loaded and unloaded.
– Perform counts of items and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
– Accurately complete all necessary paperwork associated with freight in a legible manner.
– Position the tractor at the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as required.
– Follow a predetermined delivery route to deliver customer orders on time.
– Unload products from the trailer and transport them to designated areas within customer storage spaces.
– Conduct damage control checks on items, scan goods, and communicate with supervisors regarding any orders to be removed as per company policy.
– Confirm deliveries with customers and obtain necessary signatures.
– Collect payments (cash or checks) when required; securely load customer returns onto the trailer and ensure all trailer doors are secured.
– Ensure the tractor, trailer, and freight are consistently locked and secured.
– Unload damaged goods and customer returns, completing the necessary paperwork, and clear all equipment and trash from trailers as required.
– Maintain daily records of service hours in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
– Perform general housekeeping in the tractor and loading dock areas, keeping trailers clean and orderly as required.
– At the conclusion of each shift, secure all equipment and complete all required documentation.
– Carry out other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
– A minimum of 12 months of commercial driving experience
– High school diploma/GED or equivalent
– Valid CDL A license
– Compliance with all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
– Must be at least 21 years of age
– Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years
– Ability to pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check
– Successful completion of a road test
– Valid and current DOT Health Card or ability to secure one
– Physical capability to hand-lift and utilize equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to move and stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights, generally ranging from 10-35 pounds and up to approximately 60 to 90 pounds, depending on the location

Preferred Qualifications:
– Over one year of commercial driving experience
– Experience in the foodservice distribution industry
– Familiarity with onboard computer and electronic log systems (e.g., PeopleNet)
– Experience with handheld point of delivery scanning systems (e.g., POD)
– Background in customer service roles
