Position Details:
– Compensation is set at $22.00 per hour with local routes and daily home time.
– The position operates on a night shift schedule, with dispatch occurring between 9 PM and 10 PM.
– Employees can expect a four-day work week with shifts lasting 10 to 12 hours.
– Daily home time is guaranteed.
Position Purpose:
As a Shuttle Driver, you will be integral to our operations by transporting empty trailers to our warehouse locations and delivering full trailers to shuttle yard locations. The Shuttle Driver operates tandem trailers, tractor-trailers, and/or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes, ensuring that all deliveries are conducted safely, timely, and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You will professionally interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers, providing accurate and timely responses to inquiries. You will also function as a cooperative team member within the organization, undertaking any assigned duties to best serve the company.
Position Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
– Conducting all required safety checks, including pre/post-trip inspections of the tractor/truck and trailer to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards; addressing any issues as necessary.
– Reporting all safety concerns and required repairs.
– Adhering to all DOT regulations and company driving policies while promptly reporting any safety hazards. Ensuring trailers are loaded and secured correctly.
– Ensuring that all route paperwork accompanies the tractor-trailer load and is available upon dispatch.
– Driving and delivering trailers according to a predetermined schedule.
– Following safety guidelines for hook/unhook procedures.
– Parking and storing tractor-trailers in designated areas.
– Ensuring all equipment and freight are secured at all times.
– Collecting and securing damaged goods and customer returns in the empty trailer for return to the base facility, along with completing necessary paperwork.
– Unloading all equipment and materials, as well as removing trash from trailers as required.
– Maintaining a daily record of hours of service and logging in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
– Performing general housekeeping duties within the tractor, loading dock area, and ensuring trailers remain clear and clean.
– Executing other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
– High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
– A minimum of one year of experience driving tractor-trailers.
– A valid CDL Class A license.
– Must be at least 21 years old.
– Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements (as applicable).
– A clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
– Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and road test.
– A valid, current DOT Health Card or the ability to obtain one.
– Capability to hand-lift and utilize equipment, such as a two-wheeler, lift gate, and other machinery to move or stack product cases/freight, which may weigh between 60 and 90 pounds depending on the location.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Over one year of commercial driving experience.
– Experience in the food service or delivery distribution industry.
– A valid CDL A with a Doubles Endorsement is preferred.
– Familiarity with onboard computer and electronic log systems (e.g., PeopleNet).
– Experience with handheld point-of-delivery scanning systems (e.g., POD).
