Position Details:
– Work schedule of four to five days per week, Monday through Saturday, with Sundays off.

Position Purpose:
Food and food service delivery drivers play an essential role in the nation’s food supply chain. Our drivers ensure that customers receive their products on time and in excellent condition while serving as the face of our company and fostering strong relationships with our clientele. The driver is tasked with operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck on local intrastate and interstate routes, including over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries, while adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to guarantee the safe and timely delivery of food and related products.

Primary Responsibilities:
– Professionally communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring responses to inquiries are timely and accurate.
– Collaborate effectively as a team member within the department and organization, undertaking all assigned duties to maximize service to the company.
– Conduct required safety checks (e.g., pre/post-trip inspections) on the tractor/truck and trailer in accordance with DOT regulations, ensuring all vehicles meet company safety standards.
– Report safety concerns and necessary repairs promptly.
– Comply with all DOT regulations and adhere to company driving and safety policies.
– Immediately report any safety hazards and verify proper loading and securing of freight in the trailer.
– Perform item count checks and ensure all customer invoices reflect loaded products accurately.
– Complete all required paperwork associated with freight in a clear and legible manner.
– Maneuver the tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as necessary.
– Drive to and deliver customer orders following a predetermined delivery schedule.
– Unload products from the trailer and transport them to designated customer storage areas.
– Conduct damage control checks, scan items, and inform supervisors about order removals in line with company policy.
– Confirm delivery with customers and secure appropriate signatures.
– Collect payments (cash or checks) when required, loading customer returns onto the trailer and securing trailer doors.
– Ensure proper security of the tractor, trailer, and freight at all times.
– Manage damaged goods and customer returns, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed during driver check-in.
– Maintain a daily record of service hours and log entries in accordance with federal, state, and company regulations.
– Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and maintain cleanliness in trailers as required.
– Secure all equipment and complete necessary paperwork at the end of each shift.
– Carry out other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
– A minimum of 12 months of commercial driving experience.
– High school diploma or GED, or state-approved equivalent.
– Valid CDL A license.
– Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements, where applicable.
– Must be at least 21 years of age.
– Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
– Successfully pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
– Complete a road test.
– Valid current DOT Health Card or the ability to obtain one.
– Capability to hand-lift and utilize a two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to manage product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights during the shift; product weights typically range from 10 to 35 pounds and can reach up to approximately 60 to 90 pounds, depending on the location.

Preferred Qualifications:
– Experience with onboard computer and electronic log systems (e.g., PeopleNet).
