The Controller will play a pivotal role in scaling the company’s financial operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this position will significantly impact FMX’s comprehension of its business model and strategies for growth. In addition to managing core financial reporting, controls, and compliance, the Controller will be vital in optimizing cash flow, refining financial processes, and delivering data-driven insights that inform strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely, accurate, and process-oriented monthly financial statement preparations in accordance with US GAAP. This includes overseeing close procedures, quarterly and annual reviews and adjustments, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  • Oversee the technical and transactional aspects of accounting, adhering to US GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Manage Sales and Use Tax compliance and support annual corporate tax filings.
  • Lead the annual financial statement audit process.
  • Administer payroll and benefits operations.
  • Implement and monitor key internal controls to ensure consistency and maintain evidence of control operations.
  • Establish, document, and uphold best practices for closing processes, general ledger maintenance, and audit documentation.
  • Maintain and manage our accounting technology stack, which includes QuickBooks Online, Maxio (SaaSOptics), Avalara, BREX, Bill.com, and FinOptimal.
  • Provide analytical support on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks) and collaborate closely with the FP&A team for company reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and Board presentations.
  • Participate in M&A activities as required, including due diligence and onboarding of new acquisitions.
  • Develop, manage, and mentor a high-performing finance team.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.

Requirements:

We are seeking a candidate who possesses:

  • A minimum of 7 years of robust accounting and finance experience, including 4+ years of experience in preparing financial statements, managing general ledger functions, and processing payroll.
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP standards, general accounting practices, and end-to-end business processes.
  • Experience with corporate tax matters and Sales and Use Tax compliance.
  • Preferred experience with Salesforce, QuickBooks Online, and SaaSOptics/Maxio.
  • Familiarity with the SaaS business model is highly preferred but not mandatory.
  • Excellent proficiency in accounting and corporate finance, including billing, revenue recognition, accruals, and cash flows.
