Morrison Living is seeking to fill full-time and part-time Cook positions immediately.

  • Location: Clark at Franklin – 1551 Franklin Street Southeast, Grand Rapids, MI 49506.
  • Schedule: Flexible scheduling options available for both full-time and part-time positions; specific days and hours to be discussed during the interview.
  • Requirements: Previous experience as a line cook and in food preparation is essential.

Job Summary: Responsible for preparing food in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations as outlined by our established policies and procedures. Ensure that quality food service is consistently provided.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery, and service schedules.
  • Serve meals or prepare food for delivery, ensuring correct portioning and adherence to standards, while maintaining proper food temperatures and presentation; taste all prepared dishes.
  • Follow established ticket collection procedures during service and maintain accurate records from the area worked.
  • Maintain a clean kitchen after food preparation and service, upholding rigorous cleanliness standards. Store or dispose of excess food following safe food-handling practices.
  • Ensure that refrigerators and storerooms are kept clean and organized, storing food and supplies as per guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment according to instructions.
  • Assist in production planning, record-keeping, and reporting as necessary.
  • Participate in the ordering and receiving of food and supplies.
  • Report maintenance issues, faulty equipment, or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Attend in-service and safety meetings.
  • Foster positive working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers.
  • Adhere to safe work practices while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.
  • Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures, while following HACCP standards.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to safety for oneself and others.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to:
    • The use of medium-weight cut gloves when handling knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins, or cleaning slicers.
    • The use of oven mitts, fryer gloves, or steamer gloves when handling hot equipment.
    • The use of slip-resistant shoes and adherence to proper lifting techniques.
