Job description:

Morrison Living is actively seeking both full-time and part-time Cook positions.

  • Location: Clark at Franklin – 1551 Franklin Street Southeast, Grand Rapids, MI 49506.
  • Schedule: Flexible full-time and part-time schedules available; days and hours may vary. Additional details will be provided during the interview process.
  • Requirement: Prior experience as a line cook and in food preparation is mandatory.
  • Pay Range: $21.00 to $23.00 per hour.

Job Summary:
The Cook is responsible for preparing food in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations while upholding established policies and procedures. Quality food service must be ensured at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare high-quality food based on standardized recipes and instructions to align with production, delivery, and service schedules.
  • Serve meals or prepare them for delivery, ensuring accurate portioning, adherence to outlined standards, and that food is served at the appropriate temperature, all while maintaining an appealing presentation. Taste all prepared food items.
  • Utilize established ticket collection processes during service, maintaining accurate records for the areas worked during service hours.
  • Uphold cleanliness standards in the kitchen post-preparation and service, safely storing or discarding excess food.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in refrigerators and storerooms, ensuring compliance with storage standards for food and supply items.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed.
  • Assist with production planning, record-keeping, and reporting as needed.
  • Aid in the ordering and receiving of food and supplies.
  • Promptly report any maintenance needs, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor.
  • Participate in in-service training and safety meetings.
  • Foster positive working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers.
  • Perform duties with a strong focus on safety and cleanliness in the work environment.
  • Execute other assigned responsibilities.
  • Ensure proper food presentation, portioning, and maintenance of serving temperatures in compliance with HACCP standards.
  • Maintain a personal commitment to safety for oneself and others.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to:
    • Use of medium-weight cut gloves when handling knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins, or cleaning a slicer.
    • Utilization of oven mitts, fryer gloves, or steamer gloves when handling hot pans.
    • Wear slip-resistant shoes and employ proper lifting techniques.
