Job Overview
As a Cook, you will apply your knowledge and expertise in food production to ensure the safe, timely, and proper preparation and service of meals according to established recipes. You will uphold food safety and sanitation standards while maintaining an organized and efficient kitchen. In the absence of the Dining Services Coordinator, you will be responsible for effectively managing all food production.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain high standards for food taste and quality at all times.
• Prepare and serve meals promptly in accordance with standardized recipes and menus.
• Utilize production sheets to accurately document food production quantities and maintain cooking, holding, and cooling temperatures.
• Implement dietary modifications as required.
• Follow Sunrise systems for order taking and meal delivery, ensuring accuracy.
• Stock, rotate, date, and store food products according to safety standards and regulations.
• Keep the kitchen, storage, and work areas clean and organized.
• Complete assigned cleaning duties, ensuring the accuracy of daily and weekly cleaning logs.
• Maintain and accurately record equipment logs, reporting any issues promptly.
• Ensure all cooking equipment is in safe working order and report any malfunctions quickly.
• Adhere to OSHA requirements, Risk Management programs, and safety procedures, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire extinguishers, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and Lockout Tagout procedures.
• Perform additional Dining Services duties as assigned by community leadership, which may include:
  • Dishwashing tasks to properly wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and cookware.
  • Operating dish machines in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
  • Performing light janitorial tasks such as sweeping, sanitizing production areas, and emptying trash.
  • Cleaning designated kitchen equipment, ensuring thorough sanitation.
  • Assisting with service in dining areas as needed.

• Attend regular meetings, including Town Hall, Department Team, Cross Over, and others as directed by the Dining Services Coordinator.
• Maintain compliance with required training and all training mandated by state/provincial or other regulatory authorities to uphold Sunrise’s standards.

Qualifications:

• One year of relevant experience in food preparation within a restaurant, hotel, or similar environment.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Maintain ServSafe® certification.
• Culinary apprenticeship or training is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
