Job Overview
The Cook will utilize their expertise in food production to ensure the timely, safe, and proper preparation and service of meals according to established recipes, adhering to all food safety and sanitation standards while maintaining a neat and organized kitchen. The Cook will also effectively manage all food production responsibilities in the absence of the Dining Services Coordinator.
Responsibilities:

- Maintaining high standards of food taste and quality consistently.
- Preparing and serving meals punctually in accordance with established recipes and menus.
- Utilizing production sheets to accurately document food production quantities and cooking, holding, and cooling temperatures.
- Preparing dietary modifications as ordered.
- Utilizing Sunrise systems to ensure accuracy in order-taking and meal delivery.
- Stocking, rotating, dating, and storing products in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Keeping kitchen, storage, and work areas clean and organized.
- Completing assigned cleaning tasks and verifying accuracy of daily and weekly cleaning logs.
- Maintaining accurate equipment logs and promptly reporting any concerns.
- Ensuring all cooking equipment is safe and in working order.
- Complying with applicable safety regulations, including OSHA/British Columbia Workers Compensation Act requirements.
- Performing additional Dining Services duties as directed by community leadership, including:
- Dishwashing and sanitizing all kitchenware.
- Operating dish machines as per manufacturer guidelines.
- Performing light janitorial tasks such as sweeping, sanitizing production areas, and managing waste.
- Cleaning kitchen equipment, including stoves, ovens, fryers, and food prep areas.
- Assisting with service in dining areas as necessary.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of relevant experience in food preparation within a restaurant, hotel, or similar environment.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Required certifications: CPR and First Aid Certificates, ServSafe® Manager Certificate, Local Health Department Food Handler Card; prior culinary training is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Demonstrates sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Capability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
