Job description:

We are seeking dedicated Food and Food Service Delivery Drivers to play a vital role in the nation’s food supply chain. Our drivers ensure that customer products are delivered on time and in excellent condition, serving as the face of our company while building long-lasting relationships with clients.

Position Overview:
The driver will operate a tractor-trailer or straight truck on various routes, including intrastate, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. Responsibilities include delivering and unloading food and food-related products to customers in a safe and timely manner while adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues, ensuring inquiries are addressed accurately and promptly.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member, executing assigned duties to best serve the organization.
  • Conduct all required safety checks (pre/post-trip) and ensure all vehicles meet DOT regulations and company safety standards.
  • Immediately report safety issues and required repairs.
  • Comply with all DOT regulations and company driving policies.
  • Inspect trailers for properly loaded and secured freight and perform count checks on loaded items, verifying customer invoices.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly.
  • Move the tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as necessary.
  • Deliver customer orders according to a predetermined route schedule and unload products into designated storage areas.
  • Conduct damage control checks on items and communicate with supervisors regarding any necessary removals.
  • Confirm delivery with customers, obtaining appropriate signatures and collecting payments (cash or checks) when required.
  • Ensure that all equipment, including the tractor, trailer, and freight, is secured and locked at all times.
  • Manage customer returns and damaged goods according to company policies and complete associated paperwork.
  • Maintain a daily record of service hours in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Uphold cleanliness and safety standards in the tractor, loading dock, and trailers.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and secure equipment at the end of each shift.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 months of commercial driving experience.
  • High school diploma/GED or state-approved equivalent.
  • Valid CDL A license.
  • Compliance with state licensing and certification requirements (where applicable).
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
  • Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Successfully complete a road test.
  • Current DOT Health Card, or ability to obtain a new one.
  • Capable of lifting and moving product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights, typically ranging from 10-35 pounds and up to 60-90 pounds depending on location.
