Responsibilities
- Learn and perform fundamental dental assisting functions in accordance with the state’s Dental Auxiliaries Table of Permitted Duties, under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist.
- Actively engage in the Perfect Patient Experience by focusing on optimal treatment while addressing individual patient needs and concerns.
- Acquire knowledge of infection control procedures, including sterilization and operatory cleaning, to ensure the safety of patients and team members.
- Complete radiographs and intra-oral photographs at the direction of the dentist after fulfilling all state requirements regarding radiation safety.
- Prepare for patient care procedures efficiently, including patient readiness, procedure tray setup, providing basic chairside support, and facilitating patient handoff to the front desk for follow-up appointments.
- Instruct patients on postoperative care and general oral health as directed by the dentist.
- Record patient charting and treatment notes in the digital patient chart as directed by the dentist.
- Support patient care by presenting treatment records, consents, and health history to the dentist before treatment.
- Adhere to all state, federal, and regulatory compliance requirements, including OSHA, WC, Dental Board regulations, HIPAA, ADA, and HR policies.
Qualifications
- Prior dental experience is not required.
- Experience in customer service is preferred.
