As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Beacon, your primary responsibility will involve:

  • Providing Support and Care: Assist individuals in achieving their personal goals through encouragement and guidance, adhering to person-centered and behavioral plans.
  • Fostering a Safe Environment: Cultivate a supportive atmosphere where individuals feel safe and respected, ensuring their rights are maintained.
  • Meal Preparation and Housekeeping: Prepare meals according to dietary needs and assist with household tasks to create a clean and organized living space.
  • Transportation and Advocacy: Transport residents to appointments, advocate for their needs, and help with necessary documentation.
  • Medication Administration: Safely administer medications as prescribed and verify dosages to ensure compliance.
  • 24/7 Availability: Remain awake and accessible in residences requiring continuous care.
  • Supervising Daily Activities: Assist individuals with personal care, life skills, and social engagement.

Qualifications Required:

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A valid driver’s license is necessary.

Preferred:

  • 1-2 years of experience in healthcare, social services, or a related field (not required).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to physical aggression and infectious diseases.

Pay Range: USD $16.50 per hour
Schedule: 3 shifts per week with alternating weekends
Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, or various combinations
Location: Ypsilanti, MI
