Role of a Direct Support Professional (DSP):
As a Direct Support Professional at Beacon, your primary responsibility will be to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and mental health challenges. You will play a crucial role in helping residents achieve personal goals, live independently, and enhance their overall quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Support & Care: Encourage individuals and help them meet their goals while adhering to person-centered and behavior plans.
- Foster a Safe Environment: Create a trusting and respectful atmosphere, safeguarding the rights and dignity of those you support.
- Meal Preparation & Housekeeping: Prepare meals according to dietary plans and assist with laundry and cleaning to maintain a safe and organized home.
- Transportation & Advocacy: Assist individuals with transportation to appointments, advocate for their needs, and manage necessary documentation.
- Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications, ensuring accurate dosages are provided.
- 24/7 Availability: Remain awake and available in homes that require round-the-clock care.
- Supervise Daily Activities: Assist individuals with personal care, life skills, and social engagements.

Qualifications:

Required:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor when interacting with individuals facing mental health challenges and co-occurring disorders.
- Preferred:
- 1-2 years of experience in healthcare, social services, or a related field (not mandatory).
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to physical aggression and infectious diseases.

Pay Range: USD $14.50 – USD $14.50 /Hr.
Schedule: 3 shifts a week with an every-other-weekend rotation.
Hours: 8:30 AM – 9:00 PM, 8:30 PM – 9:00 AM, or a combination thereof.
