GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Elite Stylist plays a vital role in engaging with guests, providing consultations on hair care needs, and recommending products and services. This position emphasizes delivering high-quality professional services that enhance the guest’s overall appearance. The Elite Stylist collaborates closely with the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM), focusing on performance metrics (service sales and productivity), exceptional guest service, and operational processes.

*PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions)**

The Elite Stylist embodies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through the following duties and responsibilities, alongside other projects as assigned:

Performance

  • Execute a variety of hair services, including hair design, haircuts, color treatments, styling, updos, perms, keratin treatments, and makeup applications (where applicable).
  • Achieve or surpass an average weekly sales target of $1900 while upholding productivity goals for hair services, contributing to the store’s objectives related to retail sales, guest loyalty (including credit), and minimizing retail shrink.
  • Demonstrate products to guests to enhance sales and the overall service experience.
  • Support the implementation of in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives that elevate the guest experience.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, demonstrating knowledge of their benefits to better assist guests.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

People

  • Cultivate guest relationships through thoughtful consultations and tailored service recommendations.
  • Ensure timely and efficient service for all guests, including walk-ins.
  • Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams to deliver a comprehensive guest experience.
  • Establish professional relationships with colleagues and brand partners to enhance collaborative guest service.
  • Promote the benefits of the guest loyalty program and the Ulta Beauty app to guests in both the salon and sales floor.
  • Participate in mandatory training and meetings to support continuous professional development.

Process

  • Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Adhere to safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures before, during, and after services, while following relevant state board guidelines.
  • Utilize established service protocols to ensure a consistent and exceptional guest experience.
  • Manage booking and clientele systems to schedule guests for future services and events.
  • Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to guarantee guest readiness.
  • Uphold outstanding store operational standards, including cleanliness in the salon, sales floor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and any additional assigned locations.
  • Adhere to Ulta Beauty’s dress code.
  • Protect company assets by following best practices in loss prevention and providing exceptional guest service.
  • Complete other operational tasks as directed.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Current cosmetology license.

Experience

  • Relevant previous work experience is required.

Skills

  • Proficient in the latest salon techniques, including haircutting, hair coloring, styling, treatments, and makeup applications (where applicable), with a willingness to expand capabilities.
  • Competent in the use of equipment and chemicals necessary for technical work.
  • Skilled in demonstrating, recommending, and selling professional hair care and makeup products.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

The pay range for this role is set between $10.70 – $15.75 per hour or based on service pay, in accordance with the Company’s Services Compensation Plan. Actual pay will depend on various factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, shift, geographic location, and business needs.
