Job description:

The Field Technician plays a critical role in the installation and maintenance of customer premise equipment (CPE), with a primary focus on fiber optic systems. This position requires a strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service while working in diverse outdoor environments. Field Technicians will perform installations at various heights, troubleshoot technical challenges, and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the process. Utilization of hand tools, fiber optic tools, and other necessary equipment is essential to complete installations and repairs while strictly adhering to safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain customer premise equipment, including fiber optic systems, ensuring high-quality standards and functionality.
  • Professionally engage with customers to address their concerns, clearly explain services, and confirm satisfaction with installations and services delivered.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to customer equipment and services, aiming to reduce downtime and enhance performance.
  • Comply with safety standards, including OSHA regulations, while safely operating tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Navigate confined spaces, such as basements, crawl spaces, and attics, and perform work at heights of up to 30 feet using ladders.
  • Identify opportunities for upselling additional services to customers and effectively communicate these offerings.
  • Accurately complete all required service reports, installation checklists, and documentation within specified timelines.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills with the ability to engage and satisfy clients effectively.
  • Ability to work at heights of up to 30 feet and proficient in the use of ladders and other equipment.
  • Proficiency in installing and troubleshooting customer premise equipment, particularly fiber optics and related technologies.
  • Skilled in using hand tools for installation, repair, and maintenance tasks.
  • Experience with fiber optic installations, specifically fusion splicing and fiber testing, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with operating bucket trucks for high-altitude work is advantageous.
  • Fiber optic certification and OSHA 10 certification are preferred.
  • Prior experience in upselling services or promoting additional offerings to customers is desirable.
  • Capacity to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
  • Ability to work within confined spaces and at heights (up to 30 feet).
  • Capability to distinguish colors for wiring and installation tasks.
