Join our Finance Data & Platforms Team as a key leader supporting finance stakeholders during critical accounting close cycles. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities and possess adaptability alongside effective communication skills, both verbal and written. A solid understanding of finance and the month-end and quarter-end reporting cycles is essential. We seek detail-oriented individuals who can maintain structure and organization, ensuring no lapse in process and fostering prompt communication with stakeholders. As the Financial Consolidation & Planning Coordinator Product Lead – Vice President, you will serve as the primary contact for data and metadata inquiries in Essbase cubes, ensuring smooth communication between finance teams and system administrators. Your responsibilities include managing hierarchy changes, data retrievals, and validations, as well as scheduling daily meetings to coordinate critical business processes, forecast submissions, and maintain reporting hierarchies. By driving continuous improvement initiatives, you will enhance the efficiency of financial consolidation and reporting workflows. Strong leadership and communication skills are vital, along with an in-depth understanding of Essbase financial cubes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary contact for finance stakeholders, facilitating effective communication and collaboration between finance teams and system administrators to support financial consolidation and reporting processes utilizing Essbase.
- Conduct daily meetings with Planning & Analysis (P&A) teams to coordinate critical business processes, manage the forecast and budget submission calendar, facilitate scenario snapshots, and define taxonomy and hierarchy mappings.
- Maintain Essbase management reporting hierarchies, including local charts of accounts, cost centers/LOBs, and KPIs.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of financial processes and requirements to ensure accessibility and clarity for all involved stakeholders.
- Exhibit a strong client service orientation by promptly addressing queries and delivering solutions to finance stakeholders while aiding the development and validation of financial analytics solutions.
- Monitor and assess financial processes and analytics applications, identifying improvement opportunities, and spearheading initiatives to enhance efficiency and data accuracy. Oversee daily reconciliations, address data validation/system performance issues, advocate for process automation with internal technology teams, and establish sustainable, repeatable processes to support P&A.
- Collaborate with Finance and P&A teams to identify evolving business needs and translate them into thorough business requirement documents for system enhancements.
- Coordinate the implementation of enhancements and new applications by working closely with Essbase development teams to ensure business alignment and minimal disruption to existing processes.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to empower team members and stakeholders, enhancing their proficiency in using financial systems and analytics tools effectively.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline financial consolidation and reporting workflows, optimizing the efficiency of Month-End, Quarter-End, and Year-End close processes.
- Demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, comprehensive understanding of financial consolidation processes, and proficient communication and collaboration skills across diverse teams.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Financial Planning, or Management Information Systems.
- Over 7 years of experience as a power user of Essbase cubes, with expertise in Hyperion Essbase add-ins such as Dodeca and Hyperion SmartView for data analysis and troubleshooting.
- Strong financial acumen in planning, budgeting, and reporting cycles with the capacity to translate business needs into technical requirements effectively.
- Advanced comprehension of financial statements, including P&L and Balance Sheet hierarchies, as well as alternate hierarchy management and non-financial metrics such as KPIs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to engage effectively with finance stakeholders, senior management, and peers.
- Proven leadership and people management skills with experience in mentoring teams to drive process improvements and enhance stakeholder satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- An MBA in Finance or Accounting is advantageous.
- Familiarity with advanced business analysis tools including Alteryx, Tableau, and SQL Server.
- Knowledge of other OLAP solutions, both on-premises and cloud-based.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel functions and macros for efficient data manipulation.
- Familiarity with Oracle Essbase Calc scripts, Report Scripts, MDX, and ASO/BSO outline management is highly advantageous.
- Previous experience in supporting financial institutions, particularly within consumer banking sectors such as credit cards, home lending, and auto LOBs FP&A teams.
