Responsibilities:
As the Food Service Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the food service program at a single location. You will ensure adherence to high food quality standards, effective inventory management, food safety practices, and exceptional customer service. This role requires compliance with facility menus and federal, state, and local regulations, as well as HCSG policies. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and supporting the food service team to achieve quality and safety standards.
- Maintaining accurate records related to income, expenditures, inventory, personnel, and equipment using HCSG’s computer software.
- Conducting staff training, quality control, and in-service sessions; assuming the roles of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher as necessary.
- Effectively communicating directives from client managers, building occupants, and administrators to HCSG staff.
- Utilizing protective gear, ensuring safe handling of cleaning solutions, and promptly reporting equipment needs or malfunctions.
- Upholding infection control, universal precautions, and handwashing procedures to maintain a sanitary environment.
- Demonstrating consistent attendance, punctuality, and timely task completion.
- Representing HCSG positively through courteous and cooperative interactions with supervisors, co-workers, client staff, residents, and guests.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or higher in food service management or hospitality, with coursework in food service or restaurant management preferred.
- Two years of experience in quantity food production/service and personnel supervision preferred.
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred (or as mandated by state and county regulations).
- Must obtain Food Protection Manager (FPM) certification within the first 14 days of employment.
- Must secure Food Service Manager (FSM) and Long-Term Care Food Service (LTC-FSM) certifications within the first 60 days of employment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A positive demeanor and the ability to effectively interact with building occupants, administration, and HCSG leadership while performing daily tasks.
- Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, push/pull up to 50 pounds, and the capacity to stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
- Capability to perform routine and repetitive tasks continuously.
- Comfort working around food and cleaning products.
- Basic computer skills to maintain records and complete required reports, including web-based reporting.
- Possible requirement to undertake an approved sanitation and safety course.
- Residency within the service area is required.
