As a vital member of our team, you will assist guests during their arrival and departure, ensuring exceptional experiences throughout their stay.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet customers promptly with a friendly and sincere welcome, using a positive and articulate speaking voice. Actively listen to requests, respond appropriately, and provide accurate information about outlet hours and local attractions.
- Complete the registration process by inputting and retrieving information from our computer system, confirming details such as the number of guests and room rates. Promote HEI Hotels and Resorts and its marketing initiatives while selecting rooms based on guest preferences. Code electronic keys and non-verbally confirm room numbers and rates, providing welcome folders as necessary.
- Verify and imprint credit cards for authorization using electronic acceptance methods. Manage cash handling, including making change and balancing an assigned house bank, while accepting and recording vouchers, traveler’s checks, and other payment forms. Convert foreign currency at current posted rates and post charges to guest rooms and house accounts through the computer system.
- Answer telephone calls promptly and clearly, logging messages into the computer, retrieving them for guests, and providing assistance with mail, small packages, and faxes as needed.
- Conclude guest accounts at check-out, ensuring satisfaction; if any issues arise, negotiate appropriate resolutions, which may include revenue allowances.
- Address guest complaints by conducting thorough research to devise effective solutions, demonstrating patience and tact to resolve conflicts related to pricing, comfort, or other concerns.
- Maintain composure and alertness in emergency situations and peak hotel activity, employing sound judgment to implement detailed action plans.
- Adhere to attendance policies and be consistently available for scheduled shifts.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Preferred hotel experience.
- Proficiency in performing moderate mathematical calculations accurately using a calculator.
- Ability to engage effectively with both internal and external customers, demonstrating patience, tact, and diplomacy in challenging situations.
- Capacity to stand and move throughout the front office while performing essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Competence in accessing and accurately inputting information via a moderately complex computer system.
- Ability to observe and recognize signs of emergency situations.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with associates, customers, and patrons.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
