Job description:

Ability to comprehend and adhere to instructions; proficiency in basic math and writing skills, as well as competency in email and computer applications.

This position is physically demanding and includes various tasks such as walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing, crouching, crawling, lifting, reaching, and utilizing hands to operate tools and controls.

Reports to: Building Principal for day-to-day operations and human relations; Maintenance Supervisor for repair, maintenance, and cleaning procedures, as well as approval of leave. The immediate supervisor is the building principal, with the Custodial Supervisor taking over when the principal is off duty.

Position Goal: To maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment for students and staff at the building level. The role includes oversight of housekeeping, building security, and preventive maintenance programs.

Employment Terms: Twelve (12) or Nine (9) month contract, working eight (8) hours per day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

Evaluation: Conducted through a collaborative review by the Building Supervisor and Maintenance Supervisor.

  4. Responsibilities:
    • Cleans and maintains assigned building spaces, assisting in other areas as needed.
    • Performs minor repairs and reports major repair needs to the Maintenance Supervisor.
    • Properly cleans all floor surfaces, including sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, and buffing.
    • Diligently dusts equipment, woodwork, and other interior finishes.
    • Ensures restrooms are thoroughly clean and sanitary.
    • Replenishes supplies in a timely manner.
    • Empties and cleans waste receptacles.
    • Washes windows and walls regularly.
    • Assists in moving and arranging furniture and equipment.
    • Maintains equipment and materials used in cleaning tasks.
    • Disposes of trash according to established protocols.
    • Receives deliveries for the building.
    • Checks the operation of freezers and refrigerators during vacations.
    • Executes tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor during emergencies.
    • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Principal or supervisor.
    • Keeps front sidewalks and walkways clear of snow.
    • Monitors and adheres to energy-saving policies of the building and district.
    • Cleans up spills and incidents as required.
