As a Club Manager, you will take charge of club operations and profitability, leading the execution of company strategic priorities while ensuring a market-leading value in merchandise and services. You will be committed to delivering an excellent member experience, managing and developing team members, and maintaining a safe and positive environment for all.

BJ’s provides a comprehensive onboarding program for newly hired Club Managers, enabling them to quickly acquire the necessary skills for success. Over a typical 8-12 week onboarding period, new Club Managers will partner with experienced leaders to learn best practices, connect leadership concepts to real-life situations at BJ’s, and foster internal relationships.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the team with purpose, providing clear direction and validating results.
  • Cultivate a club culture where team members feel challenged, empowered, and recognized for their achievements.
  • Develop talent by fostering team member growth, holding individuals accountable, engaging in difficult conversations, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Adapt swiftly to change, effectively communicating vital information to ensure team members can perform their roles efficiently.
  • Make informed decisions that align with the company’s strategic objectives, supporting the achievement of operational goals.
  • Monitor local competition and current retail trends.
  • Control operational costs and enhance efficiencies.

  • Uphold the company’s core values and ensure team members do the same, aiming to exceed member expectations.

  • Maintain a roadmap for achieving targets in key performance areas defined by the Home Office, such as productivity, audit compliance, shrink control, and turnover rates.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in retail store, supermarket, or warehouse operations management.
  • Strong drive for results with a solid work ethic; honesty and commitment to high service levels are essential.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to lead and motivate a large team is required.
  • Solid understanding of profit & loss statements, shrink control, staff development, merchandising, customer service, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • Proven leadership capabilities in managing cross-functional teams, training team members, and effectively communicating results.
  • Open availability for shifts is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Environmental Job Conditions

  • Most of the role involves frequent movement on hard surfaces and may require bending, reaching, climbing, and stooping to examine or scan merchandise.
