As the General Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of Goldfish Swim School, ensuring quality and success across various functions, including staffing, pool operations, cash management, customer service, and retail and vending departments. You will be responsible for the financial performance of GSS, achieving targeted goals outlined in the annual budget through the motivation, leadership, and supervision of a dedicated team of employees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administration/Organization
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Direct and control daily operations to align with GSS standard operating procedures.
- Communicate and implement company policies and procedures to ensure staff adherence.
- Manage and develop staff to promote high productivity, excellent performance, and positive employee satisfaction.
- Facilitate the recruitment and hiring processes to attract top talent.
Leadership/Motivation
- Act as a role model for employees, fostering a positive work environment.
- Maintain effective communication through weekly management meetings.
- Oversee, support, and develop a team of 30-60 employees.
- Initiate and manage employee engagement activities to enhance workplace satisfaction.
Sales and Revenue Management
- Lead, motivate, and manage the sales team to meet enrollment and sales targets.
- Achieve desired revenue goals through an actively engaged workforce.
- Ensure front desk sales personnel possess comprehensive knowledge of our premier swim lessons.
Financial Management
- Understand budgets and income statements to ensure financial integrity.
- Implement expense controls and oversee supply purchasing.
- Maintain expenses at or below budgetary levels.
- Articulate variances in revenue, sales, and expenses against budget.
- Provide guidance in retail and vending to optimize product mix and pricing.
- Schedule staff effectively and manage payroll processes.
Safety
- Oversee the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and associated safety protocols.
- Ensure all staff are trained on the GSS EAP and maintain current certifications in aquatics and management.
- Acquire extensive knowledge of pool operations to uphold a safe and sanitary environment.
Operations
- Train and supervise staff to uphold GSS standard operating procedures.
- Address personnel-related issues by adhering to company protocols.
- Collaborate with Deck Supervisors on class scheduling, student progress, customer service, and employee training.
- Gain proficiency in scheduling software for efficient bookings, class scheduling, reporting, and administrative tasks.
Customer Service
- Foster a professional and welcoming atmosphere that enhances service quality for GSS families.
- Monitor and uphold a high Net Promoter Score (NPS).
Measurement Standards
- Successfully manage all financial and budgetary goals.
- Focus on membership retention and satisfaction.
- Complete assigned tasks and projects in a timely manner.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook.
Availability to work weekends and evenings is required.
