Job description:
The Head Lifeguard is tasked with ensuring the safety and well-being of all guests in and around the pool area while providing leadership and direction to on-duty lifeguards. This role is pivotal in maintaining a secure environment for both patrons and team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enforce all pool regulations and guidelines.
- Proactively prevent injuries and minimize hazardous situations.
- Provide constant surveillance for patrons while swimming.
- Offer effective leadership and guidance to the lifeguard team.
- Ensure compliance with required staffing, coverage, and job duties standards and regulations.
- Instruct diverse age groups in water safety and other aquatic programs.
- Assign cleaning responsibilities to team members.
- Attend scheduled in-service training sessions.
- Assist in conducting aquatics safety audits and reporting findings.
- Support the execution of birthday parties and private events.
- Collaborate with the Aquatics Manager to train, supervise, and evaluate lifeguards.
- Develop weekly work and station rotation schedules for the Aquatics team.
- Oversee daily cleaning and maintenance of all aquatic areas.
- Assist in the training and evaluation of swim lesson and water aerobics instructors.
- Monitor chlorine and pH levels for the pools to ensure compliance with Health Department and manufacturer standards.
- Foster a collaborative work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification.
- Experience in customer service, leadership, and team building.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- The employee may work outdoors in varying weather conditions, with temperatures ranging from 80 to 105 degrees.
- Duties are primarily performed in direct sunlight, with exposure to hot, wet, and humid environments.
- Handling cleaning chemicals requires extreme caution.
