Responsibilities
As a Hospice Aide/Certified Nursing Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Reporting to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Patient Care Manager Senior, while functioning under the guidance and supervision of the Registered Nurse or Clinical Supervisor.
  • Assisting patients in maintaining personal hygiene and promoting a safe, healthy environment.
  • Preparing and serving light meals, as well as assisting patients with feeding and ambulation.
  • Supporting the safe use of mobility aids as instructed by nursing staff.
  • Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as emptying trash and changing linens.
  • Executing specific treatments as delineated in the patient care plan and compliant with state regulations.
  • Engaging patients in activities that stimulate mental alertness and providing emotional support to both patients and their families.
  • Reporting any changes in the patient’s mental or physical condition or home environment to relevant healthcare team members.
  • Educating primary caregivers on basic care techniques.
  • Adhering to infection control measures and standard precautions.
  • Providing accurate documentation of visit itineraries.
  • Participating in staff meetings and contributing to quality improvement initiatives as assigned.

Candidate Requirements
The ideal Hospice Aide/CNA will possess:

  • A compassionate, empathetic approach toward patients and their families.
  • Comfort in providing care in various home settings.
  • Flexibility and composure in supporting individuals during crises.
  • A valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
  • A minimum of six months of patient care experience in hospice, home health care, ICU, geriatrics, or oncology is strongly preferred.
  • Additional preferred experience may include roles in hospital staff RN, Med Surg, PACU, ER, critical care, cardiac care, or travel nursing.
  • A current driver’s license and automobile insurance.
  • CPR certification.
