As a Hospice Aide/ Certified Nursing Assistant, you will:

  • Report directly to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Patient Care Manager Senior, operating under the guidance of the Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor.
  • Assist patients in maintaining personal hygiene and a safe, healthy environment.
  • Prepare and serve light meals and aid in feeding when necessary.
  • Support patient ambulation and safe use of mobility aids such as walkers or wheelchairs, as instructed.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, including emptying trash and changing linens.
  • Carry out specific treatments as detailed in the aide plan of care, adhering to state regulations.
  • Foster mental engagement in patients through meaningful activities.
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
  • Communicate any changes in the patient’s condition or home environment to the interdisciplinary team.
  • Educate primary caregivers on basic care practices.
  • Adhere to infection control measures and standard safety precautions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of visit itineraries.
  • Attend staff meetings and actively participate in at least one Quality Improvement initiative annually, as assigned.
  • Complete documentation promptly as guided in orientation.

About You
Hospice Aide/ CNA Requirements:

  • A compassionate, kind, and empathetic disposition towards patients and their families.
  • Comfort in providing care wherever the patient considers "home."
  • Ability to remain flexible and composed in crisis situations.
  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
  • A minimum of six months of patient care experience in hospice, home health, ICU, geriatric, or oncology is strongly preferred.
  • Additional relevant experience, such as in hospital Staff RN roles, Med/Surg, PACU, ER, critical care, and more, will enhance your success in this role.
  • A valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
  • Current CPR certification.
