The hourly wage for this full-time position ranges from $14 to $16, commensurate with experience.
Purpose of the Position:
To ensure that all areas of the Assisted Living Center are maintained in a clean and odor-free condition, fostering a safe, pleasant, and homelike environment for our residents.
Qualifications:
- A positive and respectful attitude toward the elderly, including those who may be physically frail or have dementia.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and following instructions in English.
- A degree of maturity and the capability to address the demands of the role.
- Preferred but not essential: experience in healthcare housekeeping or laundry.
- Must successfully pass state-mandated criminal background screening and random drug testing.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct thorough cleaning of all assigned resident apartments, including vacuuming, window washing, dusting, and sanitizing toilets, showers, sinks, and bathroom floors.
- Clean and maintain all assigned common areas, such as dining rooms, beverage stations, lobbies, and community rooms, involving dusting, vacuuming, and polishing chrome or brass fixtures.
- Sanitize bathrooms (both common and within resident apartments) including toilets, sinks, and floors; refill paper towels and toilet tissue; replace soap dispensers as needed.
- Implement safe and appropriate techniques for using chemicals and cleaning solutions, adhering to directions for all cleaning products and equipment.
- Launder resident personal items according to label instructions.
General Responsibilities:
- Serve as a goodwill ambassador for the living center.
- Comply with Life Safety policies and participate in periodic drills.
- Engage in training opportunities for professional development.
- Report any safety and health hazards to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Collaborate effectively with team members on the same and across shifts.
- Adhere to scheduled work times.
- Treat all residents with dignity and respect.
- Follow infection control protocols.
- Uphold all Resident Rights, including confidentiality.
- Comply with guidelines outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Perform additional duties as required to meet the goals and objectives of the living center.
Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to stand, bend, twist, turn, stoop, squat, sit, kneel, pull, push, and walk long distances on hard surfaces for extended periods.
- Proficient in performing physically repetitive tasks.
- Tolerance for varying temperatures, including exposure to cold and heat.
- Ability to work with strong smells and chemicals.
- Competence in operating equipment such as vacuum cleaners, washing machines, clothes dryers, carpet cleaners, and steam irons.
- Capability to move furniture and boxes as necessary.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with residents, co-workers, and supervisors.
- Ability to comprehend both written and verbal instructions in English.
- Emotional resilience to appropriately manage resident care needs, including chronic illness, challenging behaviors, dementia-related issues, and the passing of residents.
