RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES:
The Inclusion and Engagement Coordinator is charged with promoting inclusive community participation for individuals with developmental disabilities by facilitating self-advocacy opportunities, establishing partnerships, and supporting educational and accessibility initiatives. This role empowers individuals to enhance their advocacy skills and amplify their voice in the community, while also contributing to broader initiatives that increase awareness and access. The coordinator may also assist with volunteer efforts related to these objectives.
Community Engagement and Collaboration
Build robust relationships with community organizations, businesses, and stakeholders to enhance inclusive opportunities. Represent the County Board at outreach efforts, public events, and initiatives aimed at promoting access and inclusion. Collaborate with other County Boards to share best practices, co-develop engagement strategies, and fortify regional partnerships. Foster awareness of developmental disabilities and advance initiatives that encourage participation and belonging. Partner with internal departments to align community engagement strategies with agency goals.
Support for Community Education Initiatives
Work alongside the Community Education Department to plan and support outreach, training, and educational events. Assist in implementing initiatives that promote disability awareness, inclusion, and accessibility within the community.
Self-Advocacy Support and Development
Facilitate self-advocacy opportunities that empower individuals to express their preferences, rights, and goals. Help individuals cultivate communication and decision-making skills to enhance their independence and community engagement. Organize and promote advocacy-related events and learning experiences, and collaborate with local and state networks to broaden advocacy opportunities and visibility.
Administrative and Compliance Responsibilities
Monitor and report on program efforts and outcomes, focusing on engagement, accessibility, and advocacy initiatives. Ensure alignment with County Board policies and relevant regulations. Assist in securing funding and grants to support educational, advocacy, and engagement objectives. Develop outreach and training materials to further ongoing education and inclusion goals.
Mobile Changing Unit Coordination
Support the scheduling and coordination of the Mobile Changing Unit for various events and public spaces, ensuring availability and accessibility for individuals with disabilities in collaboration with community partners and internal teams.
Volunteer Program Coordination
Assist in facilitating volunteer participation in community engagement and educational efforts. Maintain volunteer records and support training and recognition initiatives.

COMPENSATION:
Annual salary ranges from $51,829.71 to $73,061.16, with starting pay commensurate with experience; new employees typically begin at a rate below the salary midpoint.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, along with experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in a community-facing role. Experience in event planning, public speaking, or training is advantageous. A valid Driver’s License with fewer than six points on the abstract is required. Candidates must be able to lift up to 45 lbs. safely.
POST OFFER-OF-HIRE REQUIREMENTS:
Successful candidates must demonstrate negative results from a TB test and drug screening, satisfactory completion of a work-related lifting test, and pass state and local records checks.
POST-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Individuals must acquire and maintain applicable licenses, certifications, or registrations in good standing and participate in annual in-service workshops covering abuse prevention, neglect, delegated nursing training, personal care for individuals, First Aid/CPR, orientation, and related training.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
A passion for promoting community inclusion for individuals with developmental disabilities, strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to engage with diverse community partners, and preferred experience in community engagement, education, or disability advocacy. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related communication tools is desired, along with the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends.
