Summary:
The Laundry Supervisor is responsible for managing all functions within the facility’s laundry area, including receiving, cleaning, machinery maintenance, and laundry distribution.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise the pick-up, sorting, and distribution of laundry items to detainees.
- Direct the work of departmental staff and oversee detainees in a secure environment, providing initial training and maintaining a running count for security.
- Ensure a safe working environment and continuously educate detainees on safety practices.
- Complete maintenance inspections, end-of-shift reports, weekly inventories, cost documentation per load, and submit reports to management.
- Conduct required inspections of industrial washers and dryers.
- Regularly inspect clothing, laundry bags, towels, and linens for repairs or disposal.
- Order supplies based on approved facility lists and develop an organized purchasing system.
- Maintain an accurate inventory system for supplies and items in storage.
- Provide staff with current inventory details and ensure supplies are properly received and stored.
- Assist in conducting periodic inventory checks and distribute supplies as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent certification.
- A minimum of two years of experience in laundry operations within a large commercial setting, including at least one year in a lead position.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and a cooperative approach to teamwork and decision-making.
- Knowledge of principles and procedures for receiving, sorting, washing, ironing, finishing, and distributing laundry in high volumes.
- Familiarity with laundry sanitation and safety measures related to equipment and machinery.
- Understanding of the use of bleaches, soaps, starches, and disinfectants.
- Expertise in stain removal techniques for various materials.
- Competence in the maintenance and repair of laundry equipment.
- Knowledge of the procurement process for equipment and supplies.
- Strong motivation and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with computers and relevant departmental software.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Pay Rate:
Pay for this position is USD $32.19 per hour.
