Wil-O-Paw Animal Hospital – Coloma, MI
Location: 4809 Paw Paw Lake Rd., Coloma, MI 49038
Clinic Hours: Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Wage Range: $24–$26/hour
Schedule: 4-day work week + one Saturday/month

Responsibilities
Major Duties:
- Provide in-patient medical care, including administering medications, assisting with treatments, diagnostics, and monitoring, placing IV catheters, drawing blood, running lab tests, administering IV fluids, and ensuring patient hygiene and comfort.
- Prepare, induce, maintain, monitor, and recover patients during anesthesia and surgical procedures while ensuring proper cleaning and sterilization of anesthesia equipment and surgical instruments.
- Deliver dental care, including ultrasonic cleaning and polishing, and assist the veterinarian with dental surgeries.
- Position patients and assist with radiographs, including digital transmission.
- Perform laboratory duties, including sample collection, preparation, and testing, as well as recording results.
- Prepare invoices and discharge instructions, along with client educational materials.
- Communicate with clients regarding hospitalized pets, providing updates and discharge instructions, and conducting follow-up for certain patients.
- Educate pet owners on at-home care procedures and assist with veterinary technician appointments, such as blood draws and post-operative checks.
- Support outpatient appointments by assisting the veterinarian, preparing exam rooms, checking patients in and out, collecting histories and vital signs, and ensuring a seamless flow of care.
- Assist with front desk duties as needed, including phone management, appointment scheduling, and patient admissions/discharges.
- Mentor and train new team members.
- Assist with inventory control by notifying the inventory manager of low or out-of-stock items, unpacking, and restocking supplies.
- Prepare prescriptions, including dispensed medications and refills.
Qualifications
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb, as well as lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds independently and greater with assistance.
- Endurance to sit, stand, and walk on hard surfaces for extended durations.
- Proficiency in ambulatory skills to perform duties in a clinical environment.
- Capacity to work in a noisy environment with sounds from animals and equipment.
- Regular exposure to a variety of pets and potential risks such as bites, scratches, anesthesia, and radiation.
- Good hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and visual acuity for equipment operation and data entry.
