We invite you to grow with Dole in our Maintenance Department. We are currently seeking individuals to join our Maintenance Team, offering a competitive benefits package and ample opportunities for skill enhancement and professional growth.

At Dole, our employees are the foundation of our success, and we are eager to welcome dynamic individuals to our team. We have several openings for Maintenance Technicians, ranging from apprentices to master mechanics, at our Dole Fresh Vegetables manufacturing facility in Springfield, Ohio.

This position is classified as “safety sensitive,” necessitating the successful completion of an independently administered drug screen.

Compensation: The pay range is $23.37 to $36.91 per hour, commensurate with experience and position title.

Work Shifts:

  • 1st Shift: 6 AM – 2:30 PM (or until tasks are completed)
  • 2nd Shift: 2:30 PM – 11 PM (or until tasks are completed)
  • 3rd Shift: 11 PM – 8:30 AM (or until tasks are completed)

Please Note: Flexibility to work on weekends and holidays is required, as our facility operates seven days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair and maintain processing and packaging equipment within the facility.
  • Inspect equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Perform preventive maintenance following the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Support repairs and installations for advanced production and manufacturing equipment as needed.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and execute necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Work in environments with exposure to cold, noise, and chemicals.
  • Engage in frequent physical activities including lifting, climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending, and kneeling.
  • Availability for weekend and holiday work may be required.

Required Skills:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Repairing electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment.
  • Maintaining and operating Hayssen packaging equipment or equivalent.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing Ishida and Yamato scales.
  • Operating and maintaining chlorine and ammonia systems.
  • Performing TIG welding on stainless steel in a sanitary environment.
  • Completing preventive maintenance work.
  • Conducting breakdown analyses.
  • Overseeing general housekeeping efforts.
  • Upgrading production lines with new or enhanced equipment and technology.
  • Directing the activities of outside contractors on assigned lines.
  • Facilitating line changes for package changeovers.
  • Enforcing GMP, safety, food safety, and audit standards.
  • Demonstrating experience with HVAC systems.
  • Working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Documenting work schedules and tasks completed.
  • Building and installing various types of equipment and fixtures.
  • Assisting with any additional projects or tasks assigned by Maintenance Supervisors.
  • Maintaining a collaborative and cooperative spirit throughout the organization.

Preferred Education & Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic/technician or a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Understanding of the hazards associated with ammonia and chlorine refrigeration systems.
  • Knowledge of basic concepts, practices, and procedures in food manufacturing is preferred.
  • Completion of electrical safety training.
  • Basic working knowledge of electrical components utilized in processing and packaging systems, including transformers, motors, motor controls, instruments, and electrical protection devices.
  • Ability to provide and utilize hand tools typical of Electrician/Mechanical technicians.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems for documentation of work completed and assigning time and parts to work orders.
  • Strong understanding of conveyor systems, packaging machinery, pumps, gear reduction boxes, dicers, and other processing equipment.
  • Working knowledge of GMPs within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Basic proficiency in computer navigation, HMI, CMMS, accessing procedure folders on a network, and email communication.

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret equipment schematics, technical drawings, manufacturer literature, and technical procedures. Strong communication skills are essential for effectively presenting information and addressing inquiries from supervisors and management.
