Job Summary/Essential Duties:
The Maintenance Technician is a full-time position within our manufacturing facility, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal functioning of our plant. This role serves as a backup for the Mill Operator and is essential in delivering exceptional service to our customers. The work hours for this position are from 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Installing, adjusting, and repairing production equipment and specialized machinery as assigned.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on both automated and manual equipment.
  • Testing, resetting, and repairing PLC systems, including coding, gates, and various control components.
  • Conducting general repairs to plant structures.
  • Operating a range of hand and power tools for tasks such as repair, greasing, welding, and parts replacement.
  • Utilizing welding and cutting torches as required.
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Diagnosing malfunctioning machinery and collaborating with the Plant or Site Manager for repair approvals.
  • Installing and testing equipment and electrical components to ensure proper functionality.
  • Observing mechanical devices to identify issues and assess functionality through sound.
  • Dismantling equipment to access and replace defective parts with the appropriate tools.
  • Lubricating components and replacing parts to ensure efficient operation.
  • Keeping an accurate inventory of warehouse items.
  • Contributing to the Plant Safety Committee by providing assistance and accountability.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned, whether temporarily or permanently.
  • Adhering to safety rules and practices as outlined in the Company’s safety manual and policies.
  • Using software to document and track machine repairs.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Technical or vocational school certification or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with RS Logix, Case Erectors, Bag Inserters, and Fanuc robots (specific to the OH position).
  • Knowledge of Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar PLC brands (specific to the OH position).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and follow instructions accurately.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability.
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Preferred knowledge in hydraulics, mechanics, electricity, progressive cavity pumps, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute lock-out/tag-out and confined space procedures.
  • Availability for Saturday work as required.
  • A valid state-issued Driver’s License; a commercial driver’s license is advantageous.
  • A commitment to safety and compliance with all company policies.
  • Understanding of plant housekeeping fundamentals is crucial.

The physical demands required for this role include regular activities such as sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, and the use of hands and fingers. Effective communication through speaking and hearing is also necessary.
