About the position: This is a Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) position based at the Lodging Facility on Youngstown ARS, OH. The primary role of this position is to serve as a maintenance worker responsible for the upkeep of base lodging facilities. The job requires physical stamina, including standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders, often in uncomfortable positions. Duties:
1. Conduct maintenance and minor repairs on the interior and exterior of lodging facilities, including utilizing various trade practices such as carpentry, painting, and plumbing. Routine tasks are performed with minimal supervision.
2. Repair small holes in sheetrock walls, including patching, sanding, and painting. Manage door repairs, change locks, unjam doors, and perform necessary sanding and painting. Select and mix appropriate coating materials or utilize pre-mixed paints, ensuring surfaces are fully coated and free from drips and runs. Address plumbing issues, including cleaning stoppages and replacing worn fixtures.
3. Execute minor repairs and maintenance on furniture, such as gluing and refinishing damaged areas, repairing drapery rods and blinds, and replacing interior trim and tiles. Perform minor repairs to small appliances. Install shelving and fixtures in designated areas.
4. Maintain exterior areas surrounding transient quarters, including parking areas and access roads. Responsibilities involve raking leaves, spreading mulch, weeding, applying chemicals on icy surfaces, shoveling snow, watering plants, and washing windows as needed.
