Job description:

As the Marketing Manager for Member Experience, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and execution of member communications and engagement across all council locations—Cincinnati, Dayton, Toledo, and Lima. Your primary responsibilities will include developing and managing retention marketing campaigns, overseeing print and digital communications (including email and text), and enhancing website content and strategy.

In this position, you will work to boost member engagement and retention rates by proactively cultivating relationships with current members while ensuring the Girl Scout message is consistently and accurately represented. You will collaborate closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Marketing Manager for Digital Demand, and various departments within Girl Scouts of Western Ohio to support member communication efforts and create campaigns that align with organizational goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Strategically develop, manage, and implement comprehensive year-round communication plans for members and volunteers, focusing on customer experience and retention objectives.
  • Design marketing campaigns that utilize an effective mix of channels, ensuring consistent messaging that aligns with organizational branding and enhances the overall Girl Scout member experience.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams dedicated to member retention, renewal, and engagement.
  • Provide content for and maintain the GSWO website and other resources to support members and volunteers effectively.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement a cohesive content strategy aligned with the annual communications calendar while overseeing periodic reviews for brand consistency.
  • Foster two-way engagement with volunteers, enhancing storytelling capabilities and encouraging them to serve as brand ambassadors through community interactions.
  • Assess emerging communication technologies and platforms, offering insights for adoption and establishing metrics to evaluate and report outcomes.
  • Fully engage in Marketing and Communications team initiatives, including cross-training with the Marketing Manager for Digital Demand to ensure comprehensive support.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Position Type/Hours of Work:
This is a full-time role, typically Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with occasional evening and weekend hours as required. The position is eligible for GSWO’s teleworking policy and can be based out of any GSWO service center.

Travel Requirements:
Travel is primarily local during business hours for event coverage or council meetings, with some occasional out-of-area and rare overnight travel.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, or communications, along with a minimum of two years of experience in email marketing and website management; or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the capability to fulfill the position’s responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar marketing automation platforms.
  • Basic understanding of HTML and Google Analytics.
  • Strong technical capabilities, problem-solving skills, and a keen attention to detail.
  • Exceptional writing abilities and a commitment to advocating for diverse audiences.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work amidst shifting priorities.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively within both remote and in-person settings.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Proven track record in planning and implementing marketing campaigns aimed at engagement and awareness.
  • Knowledge and skills in Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Awareness of email compliance regulations, such as CAN-SPAM and GDPR.
