About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our dedicated team. The Medical Assistant plays a pivotal role within our care team, working closely with primary care physicians to deliver outstanding patient care and create an exceptional experience for our patients. In our unique model, Medical Assistants oversee the entire patient journey, fulfilling both the responsibilities of a Medical Receptionist and a Medical Assistant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following responsibilities encompass the expectations of this position, though they are not exhaustive:
- Escort patients to examination rooms and ensure that they are thoroughly cleaned and adequately stocked.
- Review historical medical information and gather relevant updated health information from patients to assist the provider.
- Measure vital signs, perform blood draws, administer injections, bandage wounds, and assist with procedures; collaborate with contracted labs for additional tests.
- Prepare and administer authorized medications and immunizations via oral, topical, inhaled, intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intradermal routes as directed by the provider.
- Collaborate with other care team members to develop individualized patient care plans, addressing any identified gaps in care.
- Perform front desk duties, including patient scheduling, medical record requests, documentation, coordinating specialist visits and referrals, and check-in/check-out processes.
- Accurately record relevant data in the medical record according to established documentation guidelines.
- Process test results and communicate timely updates to patients via e-message, mail, or phone as directed by the provider.
- Engage in outreach to foster patient engagement among eligible patient groups.
- Maintain clinical and office supplies and equipment necessary for treatments.
About You
- A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in a primary care setting; experience may vary based on clinic needs.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or a related field.
- National or state-specific MA certification or registration is strongly preferred; it is required in states where certification/registration is mandated.
- CPR/BLS certification is mandatory by the start date.
- Phlebotomy experience is preferred.
