Compensation will be determined based on the applicant’s skills and experience, and the role is also eligible for team-based bonus opportunities. Note that temporary associates are not eligible for benefits but may participate in the company’s 401(k) program.

Responsibilities
In alignment with Brookdale’s Resident and Family Engagement philosophy, you will plan, coordinate, and facilitate a calendar of person-centered, dementia-friendly programs tailored to the specific needs of residents in the dementia care community. Your role will encompass delivering meaningful and purposeful activities that enhance the quality of life for our residents while respecting their individual abilities and preferences.
Essential Functions
- Design a seven-day-a-week person-centered program that is both engaging and creative, catering to residents’ diverse interests. Facilitate sensory-focused small group programming for those unable to participate in larger settings.
- Develop a monthly calendar in collaboration with residents, ensuring person-centered special events and daily programs are scheduled and executed effectively.
- Ensure compliance with Brookdale Excellence Standards Tool (BEST), relevant regulations, and Brookdale’s policies and procedures for dementia care.
- Provide education and resources to families and associates concerning Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, coordinating training sessions as needed.
- May supervise Clare Bridge Program Assistants, including hiring, coaching, performance evaluations, and documentation of corrective actions.
- Collaborate with community leaders to plan and participate in special events and programs, ensuring skillful execution and community engagement.
- Monitor residents’ health and behavioral changes, collaborating with clinical partners to promptly address any concerns.
- Manage social media content to ensure alignment with Brookdale’s brand and standards.
- Organize programming events outside the community, which may include the operation of a community vehicle.
- Adhere to departmental budgets, managing expenses and possibly overseeing a volunteer program.
- Provide personal care, housekeeping, and dietary support as needed to maintain service quality, ensuring adherence to Clare Bridge Program standards.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree in therapeutic recreation, gerontology, education, or a related field is preferred. A minimum of two years of direct programming experience with older adults and individuals with dementia is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications, Licenses, and Special Requirements:
Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and a current three-year driving record with no more than one moving violation as a condition of employment, with the possibility of requiring a commercial driver’s license based on community needs.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Activities include standing, walking, sitting, and using hands and fingers to handle or feel objects.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and engage in basic physical activities.
- Interaction with co-workers, residents, and vendors is a routine requirement.
