Are you seeking a rewarding career that emphasizes training and growth? Nesco Resource has the perfect opportunity for you! We are currently in search of Metal Packers for our Metal Extrusion client in the Garden City, MI area.

Job Duties:

  • Review work orders to prepare customer orders effectively.
  • Inspect product quality for dimensions, defects, and surface issues, promptly reporting any concerns.
  • Lift various metal pieces, with the ability to handle loads of up to 75 lbs. with assistance.
  • Bundle products in accordance with customer-specific packaging instructions, which may vary by order.
  • Verify task completion by reviewing work orders and signing off on orders.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, performing additional duties as needed throughout the shift, including:
    • Removing debris from products.
    • Conducting basic housekeeping tasks, such as sweeping, wiping down common areas, and disposing of trash.
    • Completing any other assigned responsibilities.

On-Site Training:

  • Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, earplugs, and gloves.
  • In-depth review of work orders and associated safety rules and practices.
  • Proper operation of hand tools and use of safety equipment.
  • Training in packing and scrap codes, as well as various packing methods and practices.
  • Instruction on wood saw operations and safety measures.
  • Guidance on counting methods and proper lifting techniques.
  • Use of measuring tools, such as rulers and measuring tapes.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing in English.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks, including extended periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and squatting during the shift.
  • Ability to lift between 50 to 75 pounds with assistance on a continuous basis.
  • Willingness to work in varying temperatures, both hot and cold.
