The Michigan Educator Workforce Initiative (MEWI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving as a central hub for educator talent. MEWI employs a “systems-adjacent” strategy, collaborating closely with K-12 districts and higher education institutions to design and support innovative recruitment and development initiatives for teachers and school leaders. What You’ll Do
As an Operations Manager, you will assume a vital role in supporting the MEWI team in achieving its ambitious objectives. You will collaborate closely with fellow team members, vendors, and external stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective operations across the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role encompassing project management, operations management, and technology platform management.

  • Proficiency in technology platforms, including the Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Salesforce, QuickBooks, and Expensify.
  • Experience and comfort in coordinating and facilitating meetings and virtual presentations.
  • (Preferred) Experience with social media engagement in professional contexts.
  • (Preferred) Experience in managing or supporting benefits administration.

Responsibilities

People + Culture

  • Oversee MEWI’s staff hiring processes, collaborating on job descriptions and tasks, managing the hiring platform, and leading comprehensive onboarding.
  • Administer benefits for MEWI staff, coordinating annual processes, supporting new employee enrollments, and maintaining a benefits knowledge base.
  • Manage and update organizational policies, including overseeing the annual policy agreement process.
  • Support MEWI’s performance management processes, including staff evaluations and the implementation of a 360-feedback process.

Stakeholder Management

  • Assist with vendor management, including vendor identification, vetting, service agreement production, and management of invoices and payments.
  • Collaborate on grant management processes with program directors, creating timelines and requirements, and facilitating progress reporting and financial transparency.
  • Coordinate MEWI’s Board processes by managing meeting schedules, preparing materials, and maintaining meeting minutes.
  • Generate innovative ideas, systems, and feedback structures to benefit all stakeholders, including educators, funders, and community partners.

Internal Structures and Processes

  • Support the team in utilizing MEWI’s technology solutions for operational efficiency, including travel booking, expense management, and virtual meeting tools.
  • Organize MEWI team meetings and retreats, including planning logistics and preparing materials.
  • Facilitate internal professional learning structures, coordinating opportunities for team learning and encouraging responsible budgeting for professional development.
  • Implement MEWI’s customer relationship management (CRM) system, serving as the system administrator and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and key results.
  • Execute operations and project management for organizational functions, including facilities management and event coordination.

General Expectations for all MEWI Staff Members

  • Provide exceptional customer service to a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Contribute to MEWI’s growth and evolution through special and priority projects, as determined in collaboration with management and partners.
  • Maintain accurate records for federal and state programs and grants.

Compensation
