Job description:
Under the general direction of the Deputy Director of Nutrition and Senior Services, the Nutrition and Senior Services Specialist is responsible for the planning, organization, and implementation of client intake, assessments, eligibility determination, reporting, and appointment scheduling for the organization’s Nutrition and Senior Services Programs. This role supports the Senior Services Program Leadership while adhering to relevant food safety and quality procedures, handling data entry, and delivering exceptional client and stakeholder services. A valid, insured vehicle is required for this position, along with a clean driving record.
The primary program areas of focus include, but are not limited to, TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) and CSFP (Commodity Supplemental Food Program). Additional support will be provided for Home Delivered Meals (HDM), Senior Project Fresh, and Transportation services. The position involves high-level administrative support to the Deputy Director, including report preparation, information handling, database entry, and clerical functions, as well as correspondence management and client communication.
Essential Functions:
- Uphold all programmatic and client confidentiality standards.
- Meet deadlines for reporting, projects, and data entry.
- Assist in food distribution by supporting truck unloading and commodity distribution at various locations.
- Facilitate client access to agency services by providing opportunities and resources during the initial contact, assessment, and ongoing evaluations.
- Guide clients through the intake process and assist with necessary applications and paperwork.
- Determine client eligibility for services within the Nutrition and Senior Services Program portfolio based on funding sources and agency guidelines.
- Maintain accurate hard copy and digital records of client eligibility and services as required by program guidelines.
- Obtain and maintain any certifications required by program funders and stakeholders.
- Stay informed about regulations, systems, and procedures related to Nutrition and Senior Services Programs.
- File and retrieve necessary documents and reference materials efficiently.
- Collaborate with internal and external staff at all levels.
- Coordinate and complete project-based assignments as needed.
- Monitor the use of equipment and program supplies, advising the Deputy Director on purchases and maintenance as necessary.
- Conduct client surveys to assess needs and satisfaction levels with the Nutrition and Senior Services offered.
- Attend training sessions as required by the Deputy Director to enhance skills and certifications.
- Maintain vehicle readiness to meet monitoring and annual vehicle check standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by CAAC Leadership.

Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office setting, as well as at off-site venues and outdoor event areas. Regular visits to client homes are required, with frequent use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing systems.
Physical Demands:
The physical requirements for this role include the ability to talk and hear regularly, stand, walk, use hands for handling tasks, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a part-time role, with typical hours on Monday (11 AM – 4 PM), Tuesday (8 AM – 3 PM), Wednesday (8 AM – 12 PM), and Thursday (8 AM – 3 PM). Hours may vary, and evening or weekend work may be required as needed.

Required Education and Experience:
