Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with production in accordance with the Pastry Chef’s standards for all bakeshop products, including cakes, breakfast pastries, bread, ice cream, confections, and the needs of all GHG hospitality outlets.
- Aiding in the preparation and execution of breakfast events for the banquets department as directed by team leadership.
- Preparing ingredients for service while adhering to all kitchen SOPs, procedures, and recipes.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Complying with food safety and sanitation guidelines in alignment with kitchen standards and local food codes.
- Engaging in effective communication with chefs and the culinary team.
- Demonstrating basic knowledge in cakes, custards, pies, and cookies.
- Understanding and executing all standardized recipes provided by the Pastry Chef.
- Efficiently managing high-demand situations in a bustling kitchen.
- Upholding the highest standards of kitchen cleanliness and organization.
- Fostering positive working relationships with colleagues in the Banquet Kitchen and other GHG outlets.
- Participating in the breakdown and cleaning of bakeshop floors, walk-in coolers, surfaces, and equipment at the end of each shift.
- Training new and current team members.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you will need:
- Availability for 30-40 hours per week, including mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience as a pastry cook/baker or in a similar high-volume production role.
- Experience in bread and dough production is a plus.
- Advanced understanding of ingredients, kitchen equipment, procedures, and various cooking techniques.
- The ability to work efficiently and maintain composure under pressure.
- Openness to constructive criticism.
- Capability to accurately follow recipes and instructions.
- Basic culinary math proficiency.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Advanced knife skills.
- The physical ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours or more), stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
