Job description:
Provides compassionate pharmacy consulting services to patients, focusing on the effective utilization of medications and awareness of drug interactions. Delivers preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome initiatives. Ensures that prescribed medications are accurately compounded, reviewed, dispensed, and verified in compliance with regulatory guidelines and company policies. Oversees the performance and engagement of pharmacy staff, ensuring their professional growth through targeted training, coaching, and structured performance management initiatives.
Engages patients by warmly greeting them and assisting with inquiries related to products and services. Addresses patient concerns promptly to foster a positive experience. Models and promotes customer service best practices among team members, creating a welcoming and caring environment characterized by effective interpersonal communication and commitment to patient needs. Counsels patients on the appropriate use of medications, including potential side effects, interactions, and alternatives, while ensuring compliance with privacy regulations. Maintains compliance with Good Faith Dispensing policy and federal laws when processing prescriptions, while collaborating with the store manager to identify and cultivate new business opportunities. Ensures accurate processing of insurance claims while assisting patients in resolving any related issues. Conducts follow-ups with medical providers to confirm prescription details and explore alternative medications as necessary.
Delivers clinical and wellness services such as immunizations and diagnostic testing, works alongside centralized support for patient registration, and participates in the resolution of patient concerns. Is responsible for maintaining the pharmacy’s operational efficiency and aesthetics, overseeing maintenance and improvements, and ensuring compliance with all legal documentation and reporting requirements.

Supports the store manager by communicating important health and wellness initiatives to pharmacy staff. Analyzes performance metrics, including financials and inventory management, to identify trends and drive pharmacy performance improvements.
Develops strong relationships within the local medical community to promote pharmacy services and support health and wellness initiatives in the community. Actively engages with local healthcare providers to bolster growth opportunities for the pharmacy and achieve shared objectives.
External Basic Qualifications:
- BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D Degree from an accredited institution.
- Current pharmacist licensure in the relevant state jurisdiction.
- Certified Immunizer or willing to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
- Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy experience, including prescription processing and insurance billing.
- Experience with controlled substances and compliance with state and federal laws.
- An average performance rating of at least 3.0 in leadership behavior on the last review (for internal candidates).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in supervising and managing the workflow of pharmacy staff.
- At least 6 months of experience with Walgreens.
- A performance rating of 3.7 or above on leadership behaviors (for internal candidates).
