Scrap Metal Services, a premier provider of mill services, is seeking a Production Foreman for its Mingo Junction, OH location, situated on the JSW Steel mill property. This frontline operational role involves direct supervision of daily activities among employees. The Production Foreman is responsible for optimizing workforce utilization to maximize production efficiency and minimize costs while upholding the highest safety standards within the host mill.
Responsibilities:
- Foster a safe working environment by leading by example and adhering to safety protocols in the scrap and slag yard. Ensure all personnel are wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and address any non-compliance.
- Lead a production team, effectively managing each shift to enhance productivity and reduce costs in the most efficient manner possible.
- Prepare daily reports and communicate necessary information to management, ensuring that all required inspections and operational checklists are completed and submitted by hourly employees.
- Meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to achieve or exceed efficiency and performance standards.
- Ensure strict adherence to Scrap Metal Services policies as well as all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
- Oversee and coordinate mill service activities, including:
- Scrap unloading and loading
- Scrap breaking, shearing, and cutting (in collaboration with the supervisor of the burning floor)
- Rental operations utilizing personnel and equipment
- Environmental services
- MR Plant operations
- Scrap inspection
- Timely rail services to customers
- Rail car repairs
- Ensure accurate completion of all job-specific paperwork, including toolbox talks, daily activity sheets, timesheets, and relevant work permits.
- Assist in preparing production schedules for each project to optimize the use of personnel and equipment.
- Plan for efficient operations, ensuring compliance with all company policies, including management of spare parts, equipment, and other onsite resources.
- Monitor the production process and adjust schedules as necessary to manage headcounts and payroll expenditures.
- Ensure employee adherence to standard operating procedures for all production activities.
- Promote a culture of safety, ensuring that all employees work safely during their duties.
- Communicate effectively, providing on-the-job training and assistance as required.
- Implement and advocate for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all expenses are submitted and authorized before financial commitments and that receipts for goods and services are processed within the correct financial period.
- Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations, including Environmental, Safety, and Health guidelines, while addressing risks associated with contractors and vendor insurance.
- Participate in cost-saving initiatives, identifying opportunities to reduce expenses and enhance revenue, treating company resources with the same care as personal funds.

Physical Demands:
