Job description:

Schedule and manage production operations on manufacturing equipment across one or more of the following areas: Prepress, Press, and Bindery/Finishing. Regularly review daily production outputs and adjust daily and weekly forecasts as necessary. Ensure optimal workflow by allocating tasks efficiently while maintaining adherence to customer delivery deadlines. Provide daily reports and updates critical for production departments in planning staffing and material needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and optimize daily and weekly production schedules, effectively sequencing and loading equipment primarily within Prepress, Press, and Bindery/Finishing.
  • Align equipment capabilities with the specific requirements of complex customer assignments to maximize productivity.
  • Confirm that all prerequisites for job initiation—such as preflighting files, plating, and ensuring the availability of raw materials and components—are in place.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure jobs can be executed as planned.
  • Monitor daily production performance, making necessary adjustments to schedules to maintain efficiency.
  • Liaise with Planners or management to resolve issues that may affect workflow, such as equipment failures or material shortages.
  • Realign work schedules and equipment allocations in response to unanticipated challenges.
  • Provide guidance or templates for junior schedulers, and potentially plan for multiple departments or equipment groups.
  • Produce daily reports and updates for manufacturing operations to ensure materials and staffing align with forecasted workloads, while keeping sales and customer service informed of project statuses.
  • Confirm that all required materials, staffing, and logistics are prepared ahead of production schedules.
  • Engage with vendors and internal resources to ensure timely delivery of components in line with scheduled run times for customer projects.
  • Participate in long-term planning and facility work plan development.
  • Perform additional related duties and contribute to special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Additional education or certification relevant to the role is preferred.
  • Possess a strong command of functional areas related to the position, as well as sound knowledge of professional practices.
  • Ability to consistently apply relevant policies, procedures, regulations, and program objectives in execution of job responsibilities.
  • May provide oversight and review the accuracy of work performed by junior staff.
  • Advanced proficiency in technology, including computer systems and software programs such as MS Office or MAC word processing, spreadsheets, or other role-specific applications.

Additional Information:

The current salary range for this position is $55,100 to $82,700 annually, subject to adjustment based on geographic location as well as changes in the future. It is uncommon for employees to be hired at or near the top of the salary range; compensation decisions will reflect factors such as education, skills, experience, and performance.
