We are currently seeking a qualified Shift Supervisor to co-lead our 2nd shift operations at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility situated just east of the US 12 – US 31 Bypass, 10 miles north of South Bend. Our facility specializes in encapsulating glass through an injection molding process and assembling windows for automotive original equipment manufacturers. More About the Role
As the Production Supervisor, you will report directly to the Production Group Leader and manage the assigned shift, ensuring that key performance indicators (KPIs) for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and team engagement are met within our manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions:
- Promote adherence to safety, health, and environmental regulations, leading by example. Oversee 5S and housekeeping duties to maintain a high standard of facility cleanliness, and conduct investigations into accidents or injuries, serving as a first responder.
- Guarantee that product quality aligns with both internal and external specifications by performing process and product audits per work instructions.
- Manage shift staffing, assigning employees to appropriate workstations and overseeing additional tasks as required during the shift.
- Assess inventories and production schedules, effectively communicating needs to Hourly Leads to fulfill production requirements and ensure seamless shift transitions.
- Drive the KPIs for the shift, relaying concerns, improvements, and general information to management as necessary.
- Collaborate with technicians on changeovers to guarantee proper procedures and operational parameters according to work instructions.
- Expedite resolution of any set-asides and holds in a timely manner.
- Engage in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities to meet production goals.
- Audit employee time records for accuracy, making necessary entries and corrections.
- Provide training, feedback, and coaching to team members based on established procedures and best practices, and administer progressive discipline as required.

- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Scope/Dimensions:
- This role operates within a single-site manufacturing facility that runs a 3-shift operation, delivering finished goods to Tier 1 Automotive OEM and Tier 2 customers.
- You will supervise a diverse team of technical and entry-level employees, managing approximately 100 team members.
- Monitor and relay essential information to department managers and the operations manager.
- Actively participate in problem-solving teams to achieve KPI goals.
- Utilize your expertise in glass and plastics processes to inform action decisions, adjusting demands and priorities as required to maintain a high level of service under tight timelines.

Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Leadership or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to effectively collaborate with a diverse range of personnel, from hourly employees to senior management.
- Demonstrated capacity to prioritize and organize objectives to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical, innovative, and strategic problem-solving skills.
- Experience in cross-functional initiatives.
- Proficient in effective verbal and written communication in English.
- Strong personal computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Qualifications Desired:
- Experience in a hands-on technical support role, preferably in injection molding.
- Familiarity with automotive Tier 1 manufacturing standards.
- Six Sigma or similar problem-solving/continuous improvement certification.
- Knowledge of IATF 16949 standards.
- OSHA 10-hour or equivalent certification.
Other Requirements:
Physical Environment:
While performing the duties associated with this position, employees may frequently work around moving machines and parts in an industrial setting. Occasional exposure to industrial chemicals and hazards requiring personal protective equipment (PPE) may also occur. A valid driver’s license with an acceptable DMV record is necessary for the use of company vehicles. Regular and predictable attendance at the manufacturing plant is essential.
