Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries, established in 1916, stands as one of the largest providers of rehabilitation services in Ohio. Our retail store network generates sales revenue to support thousands of individuals with disabilities and local veterans experiencing homelessness.

The Donation Attendant plays a crucial role in delivering outstanding customer service to donors and customers, both inside and outside retail locations. Responsibilities include greeting donors, receiving donations, and issuing receipts. The attendant also prepares donations for the production processing area while efficiently managing merchandise flow in a fast-paced environment.

As a valued member of Ohio Valley Goodwill, you will be expected to adhere to a flexible work schedule, supporting store opening, production, and closing operations, including weekends and holidays.

Required Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of six months of relevant work experience or equivalent educational/vocational experience is preferred.
  2. Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service to all donors and customers.
  3. Proficiency in English for effective interaction with customers and employees.
  4. Strong verbal communication skills with associates and customers.
  5. Capability to perform continuous physical activities, including walking, bending, lifting, kneeling, and climbing for extended periods.
  6. Ability to frequently lift 35 pounds.
  7. Willingness to be trained in the safe use of a big joe stacker and pallet jack (must be 18+).

Preferred Qualifications:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver exceptional customer service to all donors and customers.
  2. Foster a welcoming atmosphere by greeting donors and safely unloading donations from vehicles.
  3. Provide and complete donor receipts, offering copies to donors.
  4. Sort donated items into designated categories.
  5. Adhere to safety and security protocols, including reporting hazards and injuries to management.
  6. Maintain a professional appearance consistent with Goodwill uniform standards.
  7. Follow all Ohio Valley Goodwill policies, including reporting theft or misuse of company property and other illegal activities.
  8. Demonstrate ethical behavior in compliance with Corporate Compliance standards.
  9. Maintain the work schedule established by the supervisor.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist truck drivers and their assistants with loading and unloading donations for transport to and from store locations.
  2. Uphold professional appearance standards in line with Goodwill guidelines, including dress code compliance.
  3. Carry out general housekeeping tasks as needed, including cleaning restrooms and removing trash from parking areas.
  4. Effectively communicate Ohio Valley Goodwill’s mission and vision to donors and customers.
  5. Perform additional duties as assigned.
