Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries, established in 1916, is a leading provider of rehabilitation services in the State of Ohio. Through our extensive retail store network, we generate revenue to support thousands of individuals with disabilities and local homeless veterans.

The Retail Sales Associate serves as the initial point of contact for retail customers, delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining a pleasant and safe shopping environment. In a dynamic atmosphere, this role collaborates with team members to efficiently prepare merchandise for display on the sales floor while providing operational support to the management team.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Flexibility to work varied schedules, including store opening, production, and closing operations.
• Proficient communication skills in English with customers and OVGI associates.
• Strong verbal communication and active listening abilities.
• Demonstrated sales and customer service expertise.
• Ability to anticipate customer needs effectively.
• Competence in utilizing a computer system and POS register, as well as basic math skills for cash handling, including counting and providing change accurately.

Physical Requirements

• Capacity to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and twist for extended periods, up to 8 hours.
• Capability to lift up to 35 pounds on a frequent basis.
• Regular tasks require talking, listening, and using hands and fingers for computer and telephone operation.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide professional, friendly, and courteous service to customers both in-store, over the phone, and outside the store.
• Accurately process sales transactions at the POS.
• Adhere to a flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays, as determined by the supervisor.
• Demonstrate product knowledge and assist customers with inquiries promptly.
• Uphold dressing room and sales floor presentation standards, communicating product needs to management.
• Maintain a clean and organized register area.
• Execute store security procedures diligently.
• Utilize the paging system to communicate store messages effectively.
• Perform housekeeping tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting, including restrooms and dressing rooms.
• Assist donors and customers outside retail locations, greeting donors and managing donations while providing receipts.
• Convey our mission and vision effectively when soliciting monetary donations at the POS.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
This role does not involve supervisory responsibilities.

Compensation
Pay rate: $12.00 per hour.
