Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries, established in 1916, stands as one of Ohio’s premier providers of rehabilitation services. Through our extensive retail store network, we generate vital sales revenue to support thousands of individuals with disabilities and local homeless veterans.

The Retail Sales Associate serves as a vital first point of contact for our retail customers, delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring a pleasant and safe shopping experience. This role involves collaborating with team members in a dynamic environment to expedite merchandise availability and presentation on the sales floor. The associate also provides operational support to the management team.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Availability to work a flexible schedule, accommodating store opening, production, and closing operations.
• Proficient communication skills in English, with the ability to engage effectively with customers and OVGI associates.
• Outstanding verbal communication and active listening abilities.
• Strong sales and customer service aptitude, with the capacity to anticipate customer needs.
• Competence in processing transactions through a computer system and POS register, with basic math and cash handling skills required to accurately count and provide change.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Capacity to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and twist for periods of up to 8 hours.
• Ability to lift frequently up to 35 pounds.
• Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone.

Role and Responsibilities

• Deliver professional, friendly, and courteous service to all customers, whether in-store, externally, or via phone.

• Maintain familiarity with product offerings to assist customers effectively.
• Uphold dressing room standards and maintain the sales floor presentation, alerting management to product shortages or excesses.
• Keep the register area orderly and clean.
• Adhere to store security protocols.
• Utilize the paging system to communicate messages throughout the store.
• Perform housekeeping duties as required, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting, particularly in restrooms and dressing rooms.
• Assist donors and customers at retail locations, greet donors, accept donations, and issue receipts.
• Communicate our mission and vision effectively, especially when soliciting monetary donations at the POS.
• Other duties as assigned.

Pay Rate: $12.00 per hour.
