Description:

We are seeking a Sawyer I for the 1st Shift (7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) based in Pueblo, Colorado. This position will report to the Manufacturing Supervisor and will be primarily responsible for supporting the winder operator in ensuring the quality, quantity, and precise finishing of fiberglass conduit in various diameters. All personal conduct must align with Atkore’s ATIRE protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

The Sawyer I will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Assisting the winder operator to optimize equipment uptime.
  • Receiving products from the extractor and cutting ends according to specifications.
  • Preparing pipe samples for quality control testing.
  • Conducting final inspections, both dimensional and visual, per established standards.
  • Maintaining accurate production and quality records, including crating and labeling.
  • Ensuring the roving rack is stocked for continuous winding operations.
  • Assisting with changeovers with minimal supervision.
  • Affixing tri-seals, retainer rings, and grinding ends for spigots, while inspecting each piece with go/no-go gauges.
  • Upholding housekeeping standards in the assigned area.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Two years of prior shop experience is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient math skills for quick and accurate counting, calculations, and measurements, including radius, inside and outside diameter, and length.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, managing multiple competing demands while remaining calm and logical during unexpected events.
  • Capacity to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be medically cleared to wear a respirator and other necessary PPE.

Within Three Months, You Will:

  • Understand and adhere to plant safety rules and the required PPE.
  • Achieve zero safety incidents since your evaluation date.
  • Maintain fewer than 15 attendance points by the evaluation date.
  • Have no documented warnings within the first 90 days of the probationary period.
