Location: Beachwood, OH

Pay: $15.4 per hour

AI Pay Analysis: The hourly rate of $15.40 for a part-time Security Officer position during weekends in Beachwood, OH, is relatively competitive but may vary depending on specific company practices and local market conditions. As of 2023, the average hourly wage for security officers in Ohio typically ranges from $12 to $20, with factors such as experience, certifications, and responsibilities influencing pay. While $15.40 is on the lower end of this spectrum, it is often acceptable for entry-level positions or roles requiring less experience. However, for better retention and attraction of talent, especially in an area with living costs and wage expectations that are increasing, employers may consider offering higher compensation or additional benefits.

Job description:

Allied Universal®, North America’s leading security and facility services company, offers rewarding career opportunities that instill a sense of purpose. In our dynamic, welcoming, and collaborative environment, you will be an integral part of a team committed to fostering a culture that positively influences the communities and customers we serve. We provide comprehensive benefits for most full-time positions, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, a retirement plan, employee assistance programs, company discounts, and additional perks.

We are currently seeking a Security Professional – Unarmed. This position offers a competitive hourly wage of $15.40 and requires availability from 3 PM to 11 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. Candidates must be comfortable working in an Emergency Department setting. While prior security experience is preferred, we are willing to train the right individual. This role has growth and advancement opportunities within the organization.

As a Security Professional, your responsibilities will include conducting unarmed foot and/or vehicle patrols (both interior and exterior) within a hospital setting. Additional duties encompass controlling access and egress, monitoring CCTV and alarm systems, composing detailed reports, and deterring criminal activity and misconduct. Given the safety-sensitive nature of this role, qualified candidates must successfully pass a drug screening as permitted by law. This assignment is in a healthcare facility, and as such, a tuberculosis (TB) test and specific vaccinations may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct security patrols of hospital grounds on foot or by vehicle, documenting observations of unusual conditions that may pose security concerns or safety hazards.
  • Support hospital staff in de-escalating situations involving patients and restrain combative individuals as necessary, following company and customer guidelines.
  • Provide transportation for patients to the morgue when required.
  • Assist in escorting patients from the helicopter pad (high elevation) to the emergency room.
  • Aid with evacuations during fires, medical emergencies, and natural disasters.
  • Notify the appropriate authorities in the event of fire or unauthorized individuals on the premises.
  • Issue warnings to individuals violating rules, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying prohibited items.
  • Monitor entrances and exits, granting access to authorized personnel only and preventing the introduction or removal of contraband and hospital property.
  • Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure the authorized removal of items complies with client requirements.
  • Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities while maintaining written logs as required.

Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license if operating a company- or client-owned vehicle.
  • Licensing requirements may be dictated by state and/or local regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of verifiable experience in customer service or the protective service industry (preferably in security, healthcare, military, law enforcement, or corrections).
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age or meet higher age requirements set by state law.
  • Proficiency in operating radio or telephone equipment and console monitors.
  • Demonstrated capability to engage effectively and amiably with the public.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving and active listening skills.
  • Ability to assess situations accurately and swiftly identify critical issues.
  • Proficient in mediating conflicts with tact and diplomacy.
  • Capable of writing clear and informative reports.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications (Desirable):

  • Experience in a Military Occupational Specialty related to law enforcement or security, including Military Police or Elite Military Forces, or any support role in a Combat Zone.
  • Graduation from a Certified Public Safety Academy (military or civilian) or relevant work experience in law enforcement, adult corrections, or firefighting.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement or criminal justice-related studies.
  • Minimum of 8 years of service in any branch of the military.
  • An Associate’s degree (or equivalent credits) in law enforcement or criminal justice with current or prior active military service.

Benefits:

  • Health insurance and 401k plans for full-time positions.
  • Flexible scheduling to support personal life goals.
  • Ongoing paid training programs alongside avenues for career growth.
  • Employee discounts through our perks program for restaurants, entertainment, and more.
