Job Skills / Requirements

Site Highlight: You will rotate between various posts, including the Security Office, where responsibilities involve remote access control, CCTV monitoring, dispatching, and alarm monitoring. Additionally, you will conduct patrols in both a golf cart and on foot, ensuring the safety of multiple buildings and their surrounding areas.

Position Scope: As a Uniformed Security Officer, you will be tasked with safeguarding the site’s buildings, grounds, assets, employees, students, and visitors against criminal activity, accidents, fires, and natural disasters. You are also expected to provide exemplary customer service to clients, customers, and visitors.

Schedule:

  • Sundays: 11:30 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Tuesdays: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Fridays: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Compensation:

  • Rate of Pay: $19.10/hour

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to clients, customers, and colleagues.
  • Monitor guard posts, which may include building lobbies and reception areas.
  • Conduct hourly foot patrols of interior and exterior spaces to ensure all entrances, doors, windows, and vents are secure against unauthorized access.
  • Monitor surroundings via closed-circuit television.
  • Prevent unauthorized individuals from accessing restricted areas.
  • Verify employee and vendor identifications.
  • Identify and report suspicious persons, packages, and activities.
  • Provide first aid or other medical assistance in emergency situations as necessary.
  • Operate x-ray and/or metal detection equipment when required.
  • Adhere to site-specific post guidelines.
  • Report hazardous conditions and maintenance needs, such as lighting and plumbing issues.
  • Maintain documentation of daily activities and incident reports.
  • Officers are prohibited from smoking while in DK uniform, on or off duty.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Strong moral character with the ability to pass a criminal background check; no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions for related offenses.
  • Passing a drug test at the time of hire and randomly thereafter is required.
  • Impeccable grooming in accordance with the Appearance and Grooming policy.
  • Ability to present a friendly, professional image to clients, employees, supervisors, and the public.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a capacity to solve problems and de-escalate situations non-confrontationally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to various locations.
  • Clean driving record, with fewer than 3 moving violations and fewer than 2 at-fault accidents in the last 3 years; no major violations in that timeframe.
  • Willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED certification (prior certification preferred).

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically and mentally fit.
  • Capable of using hands and fingers for manipulation of objects and tools.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for 8–12 hour shifts, including navigating stairs and long distances.
  • Quick response to emergency situations.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to hear conversations and communications, including via 2-way radio, in noisy environments.
  • Capability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible availability with a willingness to work on short notice.
