In this role, you will be tasked with developing and managing part-level forecasts for your assigned commodities, ensuring optimal inventory levels at Rivian’s Distribution Centers. You will oversee your forecast refresh cycle, manage master data, analyze consumption trends, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape the overall demand plan. This position requires you to execute monthly demand forecasts in partnership with Material Planning, Service Engineering, Reliability, NPI, and other business stakeholders. The Senior Demand Planner will report directly to the Manager of Demand Planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive global demand forecast for your parts to support Service and corporate objectives.
- Collaborate with sales, supply chain, global distribution centers, engineering, and other stakeholders to identify demand forecast drivers.
- Assist Demand Planning Management with the development, analysis, and reporting of KPIs and OKRs.
- Spearhead initiatives to enhance key KPIs, including reducing forecast error and bias, improving customer service, and minimizing excess or obsolete inventory, to facilitate predictive performance and financial planning.
- Present findings and recommendations to peers, cross-functional partners, and leadership teams.
- Analyze historical consumption data, track trends, prepare forecast models, and refine forecasting accuracy by eliminating bias.
- Monitor forecast performance throughout the month to identify significant shifts, participate in monthly demand planning performance reviews, and collaborate with Inventory Analysts and Material Planning on strategic adjustments to mitigate excess or obsolete materials.
- Utilize forecast and consumption analytics to conduct collaborative inventory and risk reviews with partners to achieve customer service enhancements for your parts.
- Pursue innovations and propose new strategies to continually refine forecasting and enhance the overall demand planning process.
- Operate with autonomy, demonstrating thoughtful and responsible decision-making.
Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years of experience in demand planning or supply planning.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Strong collaborator, committed to process development and change management.
- Proven analytical capabilities with a comprehensive understanding of demand planning modeling and the overall supply chain operations that influence demand planning inputs.
- Experience with forecasting in an ERP system (SAP preferred).
- Familiarity with forecasting/planning tools (PTC Servigistics preferred).
- Proficient in data analysis, with advanced Excel skills and the ability to deliver quick-turn analyses.
- Experience in process design, demonstrating the capacity to create, document, and enhance complex workflows.
- Effective communication skills, utilizing telephone, Zoom, Slack, and email.
- Ability to sit or stand for 8-12 hours a day, view, read, and interpret documents, and perform duties in an office environment characterized by ambient noise and temperature variations.
Salary and Benefits:
- Salary Range for California-based Candidates: $87,000 to $109,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors as permitted by law).
