Job description:
Maximize the production of high-quality products in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner while operating assigned equipment and processes. Serve as the crew leader for support personnel assigned to the production line.
Essential Functions
- Adhere to directives and special instructions outlined in specific job orders, obtaining first piece approvals as required. Follow established procedures for completing routine tasks.
- Collaborate with supervisors on set-up and changeover tasks, which include installing tooling, ensuring correct positioning of labels or wraps, and making necessary adjustments.
- Make requisite adjustments to machinery prior to production to meet and maintain job and quality requirements.
- Troubleshoot issues and rectify the production process to address problems and quality defects, while documenting corrective actions taken.
- Conduct inspections and tests in accordance with procedures, accurately recording results on designated data collection sheets, forms, and logs.
- Maintain responsibility for hand tools and specialized equipment used daily, ensuring they are clean and safe.
- Monitor production to prevent under- and overruns, providing reports on production, spoilage, labor, and materials utilized during shifts.
- Oversee housekeeping and cleanliness of assigned equipment, work area, and production materials.
- Ensure that all guards, doors, and safety devices are functional and in place during operation, promptly reporting any issues that are beyond the operator’s ability to correct.
- Uphold accountability for production quality.
- Strive for production effectiveness by minimizing downtime and preventing unnecessary delays.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist supervisors in the training of carton packers/box handlers and operator trainees.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred candidates will possess 1-3 years of experience in labeling or shrink wrap processes.
- Basic math skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools.
- Normal color vision is required.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs, with typical carton weights ranging from 10 to 25 lbs.
- Ability to read 5 or 6 point font.
