Starbucks Barista
Status: Full-time, 36 hours weekly.
Schedule: Monday to Sunday, with every other weekend required.
Shift: 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Location: Butterworth Hospital, 100 Michigan St. Grand Rapids, MI.

Job Summary
The Starbucks Barista is responsible for the preparation of a diverse array of intricate beverage recipes, utilizing a complex combination of ingredients in accordance with standardized recipes. This position operates in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and requires proficiency with specialized kitchen equipment. The Barista must be able to identify and rectify any ingredients or finished products that do not conform to established quality standards, while maintaining safety and sanitation protocols within the work area. A key aspect of this role is to create an exceptional experience for customers.
Essential Functions
- Prepare a variety of intricate beverage recipes utilizing a complex combination of ingredients, following standardized recipes.
- Acquire and retain knowledge of beverage ingredients, measurements, and recipes.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
- Multitask effectively, performing various roles including recipe production, cash handling, stocking, and sanitation duties.
- Operate and maintain specialized kitchen equipment, addressing any issues or referring them to leadership as necessary.
- Identify ingredients and finished products that fail to meet quality standards and address any discrepancies promptly.
- Prepare for semi-annual health department and external regulatory inspections.
- Deliver personalized experiences for customers, showcasing product knowledge and accuracy in fulfilling specific customer requests.
- Implement effective service recovery strategies should products fail to meet customer expectations.
Qualifications
Required
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and communicating effectively in English.
- Basic math and computer skills.
Preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in food service and cash handling.
